Daniel's Haircut

Jon was able to convince Daniel to let him cut his hair. Jon has never done this before so it was quite an experience but I think he did a pretty good job. Daniel even let him use the clippers.

In the past Daniel has been terrified by haircuts. He would cry and shake. He got especially worried when his hair fell on him and he could see it. For some reason it really disturbed him to see his hair falling off his head. This experience was quite a bit better.

He looks like a completely different kid, and his head looks much smaller now. Here are some before pictures.

Happily engaged

So My sister in law Shari posted a bunch of engagement pictures that she took. And I remembered that she took some of mine and decided it would be fun to dig them up and post them. I only have two at my house I think I will have to go to Heber to find the rest of them. I think it is funny how different we look now. I love that we took them at the Highland house though. So I have better memories. The yard was so beautiful thanks to Howard(my father in law).

Progress!

Here's another picture of Daniel and one of his towers.

Hooray! I know you have all been sitting on the edge of your seats waiting for a potty training update so here it is! The wait is over. Daniel has decided to be interested in potty training today. He is doing great he has only had one accident today and he even went #2 once! Woo hoo! I know this seems a bit silly to some of you that I am so excited but If you've ever tried to potty train a child I am sure you understand. This is probably a bit premature since tomorrow or this afternoon after his nap he may just decide that it is not worth the effort...but for now I am happy and optimistic. We are using a lot of incentives. If he pee's in the toilet he gets to put a sticker on his chart. If he poops he gets a toy car(at least the next three times)and if he keeps his diaper clean for a few hours two or three(We tell him how long that is by the events in his day like nap time and lunchtime and things like that) he gets to have five chewy sweet tart candies(at least for now we may have to find something a bit more healthy in the future) We don't have any candy or treats in our house usually so he is pretty excited about the candy. So now you can all relax a little I will try not to make you wait so long for the next update. I know how exciting this is for everyone(hehe)

Here is a funny picture of Daniel and Leah Daniel really wanted to hold Leah but she was a little too squirmy for him this time. Ha Ha. I love this Picture!

Daniel: wild hair and funny faces

So the other morning Daniel wanted me to take pictures of his funny faces. I realized that I have been slacking on my job of teaching him how to make funny faces. He kept saying take a picture of me doing this mom. It was pretty funny and is pretty funny how similar they all are to each other. I guess I better have him start practicing in the mirror.

Potty Training

So.. Sorry every one. This is my life so you get to read about potty training Woo hoo! I am trying to some what gently potty train Daniel. I tried to introduce it at 18 months and he was terrified of the toilet so I have been pretty casual about it so far, mostly just suggesting that he try because if I push too hard then I get a big crying fit. I really have no idea what I'm doing but he seems to understand most of it now and is somewhat receptive. He is quite independent though and I have to be careful how I go about it so he doesn't just decide that he absolutely doesn't want to have anything to do with the toilet. We have had mild success with number one but absolutely no success with # 2. He much prefers hiding in my closet and doing his business in his diaper or pull up. So I decided to try a bribe. Yesterday I made a chart and he gets to pick a sticker to put on it ever time he pee's. That has worked pretty well...so far. Today we went to Wal-Mart and bought some "Car's" cars. I put them on one of the ceiling shelves in his room where he can see them, and told him that he can have one when he goes poo in the toilet instead of his pants. I guess tomorrow we will see how it goes... those cars could stay there for a long long time... but I hope not. If you have any miracle advice I am all ears!
